Therapy

OPAL Institute staff work with individuals or families in therapy to help older people and/or their family members address issues such as:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Fears of death and dying
- Bereavement
- Adjustment after major medical problems (e.g., stroke, heart attack)
- Family stressors
- Understanding, working with, helping loved ones
- Assertiveness/boundary issues
- Self-care
- Sleep problems
- Memory strategies
- Communication skills
- Using cognitive strengths to succeed in jobs or other domains (and compensating for weaknesses)
- Behavioral strategies to manage medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, smoking cessation)
